This exercise offers an introduction to programming in Python for corpus linguists. Students learn basic techniques of the manipulation and preprocessing of linguistic data such as the generation of word lists, representation of textual data as concordances and the acquisition of basic corpus statistics as well as annotation and analysis techniques. The goal of the exercise is to develop students' competences in the development of corpus linguistic annotation and analysis workflows.
