Application and development of research tools (standard tools, research prototypes and virtual research infrastructures); basic data types, methods and tools of corpus and computational linguistics are presented in a first overview

Official Course Description
This exercise introduces students of the Master of Arts Linguistic and Literary Computing to methods and techniques of processing digital text from the perspective of corpus and computational linguistics. The idea underlying the course is to give students a good overview of different types of linguistic data and representation formats alongside tools that are able to produce, ingest, annotate and query them. In the course of the semester, we are going to explore a variety of processing scenarios and suitable tools for pre-processing, annotation, query and analysis of linguistic data from both written and spoken sources.
