Lehrinhalte
The topic of these series of lectures is the function of information technology
systems in the product development process. The course is oriented towards the idea of
process chains used to describe the progress of product development (e.g.
product development,
rapid prototyping, phases of product design, manufacturing planning). The
basis for this approach
is the concept of the integrated product model and the various methods
of internally describing
products in computers.

Furthermore, the course explains various computer-aided techniques of technical
and commercial information technology which are used during the product life-cycle.

The learning goals are:

- Comprehension of integrated product data models.
- Knowledge of computer-aided methods for conception, design, optimization,
representation, manufacturing preparation and the documentation of products.
- Understanding of the modular design of information technology systems used in
product data technology.
- Knowledge of the interaction between information technology systems within the
process chains.
