Lehrinhalte
The lecture covers the physical and biological basics of radiation
biophysics. Special emphasis is laid on the research of the interactions of
fast ions with biological systems and their application in ion beam radiotherapy
and space radiation protection.
Following topics will be covered:
electromagnetic radiation (photons, electrons), interaction particle-matter,
track structure of heavy ions, physical and biological dosimetry.
Introduction cell and radiobiology,
DNA damage, chromosome aberrations, cell inactivation, mutation.
Biophysical models,
conventional and ion beam radiotherapy, radiation therapy of moving targets,
space radiation, radioprotection.
The lecture material will be in English, the lecture itself can be held in German, if all participants agree.
