Official Course Description
In line with the Global Strategy for the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy and EUs initiatives through its external policies, including EU Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), aiming at strengthening regional security and prosperity, the main objective of the Course is to enhance students knowledge and understanding of EUs partnerships with its neighboring partner countries of the Eastern Mediterranean area as regards bilateral and regional promotion of cooperation towards a more stable EU Neighbourhood in political, socio-economic and security terms. Especially, building on case studies of differentiated partnerships based on EUs bilateral policy with the partner countries under review, students will become familiar with indicative examples of EUs partnership priorities concerning Eastern Mediterranean, enhancing their ability to draw conclusions on EUs key interests in the region in the face of threats and pressures experienced, such as challenges associated regionally with cooperation on security matters or at political level, as well as, with migration and resilience of partners. The seminar will be held in cooperation with University of Pireaus, Greece, and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
