Digitale Lehre
In addition to using the digital learning platform Moodle as a place of exchange for presentations (some with audio track), reading and preparation materials, the video conference service Zoom will also be used to enable discussions and direct exchange online and synchronously during seminar times.

You can obtain the access link to the virtual course room from Moodle.

The preferences, technical possibilities and needs of the students are taken into account in the concrete implementation of digital teaching.

Lehrinhalte
How can the emotions of literary characters be analysed on the computer? Can stereotypical characteristics of literary movements (such as the emotionality of the Sturm und Drang or the negativism in Romanticism) also be detected with quantitative analyses? Is scandalous literature distinguished by particular emotionality?

Sentiment analysis is a current topic of discussion in the Digital Humanities, in which automated text analysis in particular plays a major role.
In this semester course, we will focus on a specific area of sentiment analysis by applying it in different ways to literary texts, with a focus on scandalous literature.

For this purpose, we will deal with the manual and automated analysis of sentiments of literary characters as well as stereotypical characteristics of literary movements and genres.

Since the course is a "practical course", the focus will be on application examples with hands-on sessions and the implementation of a small group project.
