Lehrinhalte
In the lecture "Engineering Hydrology I" the student will be
taught the principles of the field of engineering hydrology. Processes of the hydrologic
cycle, as well as their background and methods to calculate and mathematically
represent these processes will be introduced. Especially the following
topics will be part of the lecture:

[*]mechanisms for the movement of the hydrologic cycle
[*]processes of the hydrologic cycle
[*]physiographic features of a catchment
[*]methods for measurement of precipitation, evaporation, discharge,
infiltration, groundwater levels and soil moisture content
[*]generic mass balance equation
[*]formation of runoff, runoff concentration and runoff transformation
[*]statistical analysis of hydrologic data
[*]man-made influences on the hydrologic cycle and the water balance
[/list]
In addition to the lecture, several exercises will be offered during the
semester, which further explain the presented methods and processes by
means of practical examples.
