Balancing and lay-out of fluid separation unit operations (theory of the theoretical separation stage).
Fundamentals of mass and energy transport phenomena.

Distillation, absorption, extraction and crystallization.
[b]Equipment design:[/b]
Main operating and design principles of the different unit operations. Single and multistep systems, coand
counter current operation, intensified concepts and equipment.
[b]Design and analysis of complete production processes:[/b]
Fundamentals and procedures for conceptional design of fluid separation processes.

- Apply fundamentals of phase equilibria and transport phenomena of fluid systems on chemical process engineering tasks.
- Analyse task for the separation of complex mixtures and develop appropriate equipment and process concepts.
- Design and layout of fluid separation process for given separation tasks and analysis of existing plants according to their capabilities.
