Digital Teaching
This course will not be held as part of a Digital Teaching in the summer semester 2022 - it is an attendance-only course.  Lecture slides will be made available in moodle.

Lehrinhalte
This course is conducted in a seminar style. After introductory lectures, a task is worked on in groups for which a solution is also to be systematically sought with the help of patents. Afterwards, a qualified invention disclosure is to be written for this innovative solution in a structure analogous to a patent. Prof. Dörsam supports and advises the groups during the usual preparation time.  As a guest, a patent attorney will come to a lecture.

Voraussetzungen
[b]Registration for the lecture required[/b]
Please register via e-mail with the supervisor of the lecture, Mr. Carl Fridolin Weber, M.Sc. ( weber@idd.tu-darmstadt.de). Early registration in TUCaN is not welcome and will not be considered. Deadline for registration is Thursday 04/14/2022 at 1pm.

[b]Prerequisites[/b]
Students can participate in the course who are
- are enrolled in the Master's degree programs MPE or Mechatronics or in Bachelor's degree program MPE with submitted Bachelor's thesis (certificate) and
- have passed an examination in the subject "Applied Product Development" (formerly PE 1, 2).

[b]Admission[/b]
When designing your study plan, please take into account that in previous semesters the demand was higher than the maximum number of 20 participants. If there are more than 20 interested students, the order of email registrations will decide.

The final allocation of places and division into groups will take place at the introductory meeting on 20.04.2022 (from 13:30hrs). For this purpose, bring documents to prove the prerequisites (see above) for participation. If you cannot be present on this date, please sign out with Mr. Weber, otherwise your place will be assigned elsewhere. Admitted students will receive a confirmation email after the introductory session asking you to register in TUCaN.

[b]Exam[/b]
Attendance is required on 06.07.2022 and 13.07.2022. On these dates there will be a written test (duration 1 hour), as well as the presentation of the results of the seminar assignment and the qualified invention disclosure. The grade results from 30% seminar task (group grade), 30% qualified invention report (group grade), 10% final presentation and 30% written test.

Bemerkung Webportal
The course is held as a seminar. In the first third, lectures by Prof. Dörsam, an introductory course “Patent Research” and a guest lecture by a patent lawyer are offered. The attendance is compulsory for these events. The dates will be announced in the first seminar session. In the second third of the semester, a seminar task is processed by four groups of five students. The task consists of current problems, for which a solution matrix should be created and patents should be assigned to them. In consultation with Prof. Dörsam, a qualified invention notification should be written for a “white box”. Parallel to the work on the seminar task, Prof. Dörsam will provide question hours.
