Lehrinhalte
Students will work on improving and polishing both their oral and written skills in civil engineering (including all four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening) at an advanced level of scientific/technical English. In-class exercises and assignments will include reading and discussing articles and texts on civil engineering issues. Students will also practise written summary and oral presentation skills in small groups and pairs. Grammar issues will be covered as needed.

Learning outcomes
This scientific/technical course is designed for B.Sc. students of civil engineering to take them from high intermediate (high B2) to advanced (C1 ) English language proficiency. Students will be able to
- understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize the implicit meaning
- express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions
- use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes
- produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices
