In this course, we will cover a range of topics about the application of monetary policy. We will begin by considering a range of monetary policy regimes, against which inflation targeting can be compared. Thereafter we will discuss the global financial crisis and the impact it had on the application of monetary policy. Finally, we will explore some constraints on monetary policy: monetary policy and output/unemployment; the coordination between fiscal and monetary policy; the role of central banks in sustainable finance; and the politics of central banking.
