In the optional module facade technology, the functionality of facades and the most important aspects in implementing them into buildings are explained. The state of the art is presented and areas for potential research are addressed.
Topics of current importance include intelligent facades with focus on thermal performance as well as new types of glass products (including smart glass, vacuum insulating glass) and additive manufacturing applications.
Besides a lecture series, the module includes a practical component. The goal here is to develop new types of facade systems and integrate them into buildings. Furthermore, experts (facade builders, architects...) will present practical challenges of implementing facades in buildings to the students.
COVID-19 INFO!!!
Due to the restriction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a digital platform will be the main way of teaching the theoretical part of the module.
If the regulations for the coming semester allow it, parts of the lectures and exercises are optionally offered in person for small groups.
Information on this will be provided at the beginning of the course.
Nevertheless, it will be kept possible to participate solely digitally in the course.
