Offizielle Kursbeschreibung
Mass spectrometry is a powerful, versatile, and popular analytical method, with many applications in both routine and research settings. In this course, the different methods to produce gas-phase ions from neutral molecules will be explored, as will the different methods of subsequently determining the mass of these ions. The benefits, limitations, and application field of these different methods will be discussed, and you will learn how to select an appropriate method to solve a given analytical problem. Different ways to obtain structural information from mass measurement will also be explained. Throughout the course, theoretical exercises will be used to clarify and apply the concepts encountered in the lectures.
