Official Course Description
In the Cognitive Linguistics course we look at the relationship between language and thinking. The focus is on the nature of the relationship between linguistic form, meaning and communicative function. As focal points, we will deal with approaches of frame semantics, construction grammar and, building on this, discourse analysis. On the one hand, we will read and discuss important texts on these topics, on the other hand, we will also apply methods to analyse concrete data respectively objects of investigation.
