Digital Teaching
In the summer semester of 2022, we will strive for regular classroom courses, but this will ultimately depend on the (short-term) requirements of the authorities in response to the pandemic.

As an additional service, we will also offer electronic material for self-study during regular face-to-face courses.

Please be sure to register for the corresponding Moodle course as well. All current information and learning materials will be posted in Moodle.

 

Lehrinhalte
Two main topics:
Flows of non-Newtonian fluids and fundamentals of gas dynamics.

In detail:
(i) Derivation of the basic equations of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics;
(ii) Flows of generalized Newtonian fluids;
(iii) Flows of viscoelastic fluids;
(iv) Acoustic waves and their reflection/transmission.
(v) Stream filament theory.
(vi) Vertical and oblique compression shocks.

1) Fundamentals of fluid mechanics,
2) Ordinary and partial differential equation.

Knowledge of Part I of this lecture (Advanced Fluid Mechanics I) is not required.

Learning Outcomes 

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. describe incompressible and compressible flows in a differentiated manner and explain balance equations.
2. identify various flow properties of non-Newtonian fluids.
3. treat flow problems of non-Newtonian fluids
4. understand various modelings and behavior of viscoelastic fluids
5. develop a basic understanding of acoustic phenomena and reflection and transmission
6. explain Doppler effect
7. establish jump conditions at phase boundaries and in compressional shocks.
8. solve problems with shock waves
