MasterPlus PREP is a blended learning language course for training listening-viewing comprehension of technical languages in STEM lectures. The language course is aimed at international Master's students who have been admitted to a German-language Master's programme in the departments of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at TU Darmstadt.
The course lasts four weeks and takes place on the digital learning platform Moodle and the video conference ZOOM. The learning units are based on authentic video recordings of German-language lectures from the departments of civil and environmental engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, and mechanical engineering.
Through independent work on the course units in Moodle and the online presence sessions with language teachers, you will practise listening-viewing comprehension, explore the language action patterns typical of the lectures, deal with the most important morpho-syntactic phenomena of spoken technical languages, and learn techniques for developing and expanding specific technical vocabulary. In addition, taking notes will be practised.

Participation in the course is reserved exclusively for participants in the MasterPlus programme. German language skills at C1 level must be proven. Registration for the MasterPlus programme is possible with the MasterPlus office. Contact: www.tu-darmstadt.de/masterplus

Requirement for course completion: Regular and active participation, 85% of all self-study tasks of the virtual language course must be completed and submitted.
