Digital Teaching
In SoSE 2022 the course will be taught in hybrid mode and held in English.

Hybrid means, that the lecture will be held in presence and digitally recorded. We plan to upload this recording to moodle the same day. Questions arising during the lecture can be answered during the seminars. It is sufficient to participate in one of the two weekly seminars, one of which will also be available through Zoom.
However, please note that this is an interactive course, so we recommend participating the lecture in presence or if we succeed to provide it as well live via Zoom. Also, you will have to hand in exercises during the semester to participate on the exam.

In the next winter semester, the course will be taught in German again.

The lecture takes place Mondays 10:00-11:30. Wednesday and Friday a seminar will be offered where the participants can ask questions on the programming projects and can demonstrate the completed projects to the assistants.

The slides of the lecture and the exercises / project descriptions will be distributed via Moodle.

The first lecture will take place on Monday 25.4. In this lecture, working groups will be formed and all details of the course explained. Please be present in this lecture or ask a fellow student to register you for a working group. In exceptional cases, contact Felix Döppel (felix.doeppel@tu-darmstadt.de) if you cannot participate in the first lecture.

TU Darmstadt offers a free Matlab license that can also be used on private computers. Further information can be found at "Material zur gesamten Veranstaltung". It is recommended to install Matlab prior to the first lecture.

Lehrinhalte
During their further career, many chemistry students will come in touch with programming tasks. This course will teach entry level coding with MATLAB. For this purpose, students will work on programming projects regarding process engineering. The necessary coding skills will be taught during the lectures. Besides an entry to the world of programming, students get the chance to consolidate their knowledge in several topics of chemical engineering.

The lectures will teach:

   Programming with MATLAB

   Introduction to process engineering
      thermodynamics/chemical equilibrium
      kinetics of chemical reactions
      basic chemical reactor types
      residence time behavior
      transport phenomena
interaction of transport and diffusion processes
      modelling chemical reactors

Voraussetzungen
The course will be held in English in summer semester 2022. It will be available in German beginning from the winter semester 2022/23 again.

Further Grading Information
The initial lecture will take place on Monday 25.4. In this lecture, working groups will be formed. Please be present in this lecture, or ask a fellow student to register you for a working group. In exceptional cases, contact Felix Döppel (felix.doeppel@tu-darmstadt.de) if you cannot participate in the first lecture.
