Lehrinhalte
The tutorial Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) is an interdisciplinary, semester-long course in cooperation with the civil and industrial engineers. In the tutorial, potentials from the perspectives of the departments of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, civil engineering and economics are shown in the context of an introductory course, which result from the technology of additive manufacturing. The following focal points will be addressed:

Functional integration, topology optimization, optimization of electronic components, impact of the manufacturing process on business models.

Further Grading Information
The participants first deepen the contents of the introductory course using the material provided and then apply them in teams on the higher-level example of a wind turbine. An existing CAD data set of a wind turbine is used for this purpose, on which an exercise is carried out for each of the key points mentioned. The results of the exercises are then manufactured using 3D printers, so that at the end of the tutorial each team has a functioning wind turbine on which the potential of additive manufacturing has been demonstrated. The tasks will be worked on in teams of 4 students each. The tutorial is offered in English.

Special form of examination: Tutorial during the semester and submission of a report at the end of the tutorial as well as a oral presentation of the results (Team presentations with colloquium: 20 min)
