(a) Supporting corporate management: Basics and definitions "around" the concept of information, models for optimising the level of information, semiotics with use case "knowledge graphs", Controlling - genesis, definition, application, Business Intelligence (BI), Business Analytics (BA), case study "BA in practice", CFO role model and new controlling competence profiles "Business Partner, Guardian, Pathfinder, Service Expert", guest lecture on "digital reporting & analysis", presentation of various key figure systems, balanced scorecard, working capital management, (industrial) risk management according to KonTraG, value-based corporate management, guest lecture on "value-based management in practice".
(b) Management support systems (MSS): History, definitions, differentiation from ERP, definition of information systems (IS) to support executives, MSS pyramid, three-tier IS architecture, data warehousing, OLAP (online analytical processing), project management of large IS projects, content design of management support systems, use case: Corporate Navigator, Digital Enterprise Platform.

The lecture in the winter semester includes three exercises:

·         Case study „ Business Analytics in practice“

·         Comparison of different key figure systems

·         Different Balanced Scorecard approaches to fulfill KonTraG requirements for internal steering

The lecture includes two guest lectures:

·         Digital reporting & analysis (Horvath)

·         Value-based management in practice (Merck)
