The course flanks the seminar "Tad Williams: Otherland (02-25-1087-se)". It is therefore strongly recommended to attend the seminar in parallel.
We will take up questions from the seminar using digital methods. This concerns, for example, the research-oriented preparation of the texts, which enables (semi-)automatic analyses and contributes to their indexing. Concrete individual steps would be, for example, the creation of a character register using NER methods, the mapping of places that occur (in the real as well as the virtual world) or the recording of the multi-layered structure of the novel cycle.
Knowledge of the text is absolutely mandatory. Due to the amount of text, we therefore ask you to start reading in good time. The English and German texts as well as secondary literature can be found in the Moodle course.
