Course Contents
The lecture introduces system theoretical and modelling fundamentals of material flow analysis. On this basis, the methodology of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is introduced in the following. This method covers material flows and their environmental impacts over the entire life cycle from manufacture, use and disposal of products. It provides decision-makers in business and politics with an analytical tool for comparing different options for designing products, technologies and services. The lecture presents the structure and individual modules of Life Cycle Assessment in detail and explains the applications of Life Cycle Assessment in the context of decision support, especially in the context of the development of innovative technologies. The newer developments of Life Cycle Costing and Social LCA are also discussed.
