Official Course Description
The course consists of a lecture and a practical training in the lab (3 hours). In this practical training, participants will learn how to transfer theoretical knowledge obtained in the lecture into experiments in the teaching laboratory of Institute IWAR. To participate in the laboratory experiments, students must register for "Praktikum Chemie III im Lehrlabor des Institut IWAR" (13-K1-0024-pr).

First of all, students are familiarized with the basics of systematic description and registration of chemical substances and substance groups. As a course assignment, students are supposed to collect information about environmental impacts on human, fauna and flora, metabolism and degradation as well as bioaccumulation of given chemicals. The findings are to be summarized in a report as well as in a presentation.
The quality assurance and classification of obtained analytical Data in legal frameworks will be discussed using different case studies in the field of environmental analysis.
