Course Contents
The main objective of this course is to improve oral communication in the specific language of general engineering. In this course, we will practice how to communicate complex technical concepts and processes in a simplified manner so that persons outside of one's own field can understand this information. Exercises in exploratory (discussions, negotiations, etc.) as well as performative speaking (presentations) are an essential part of this course. The use of specialized vocabulary will be practiced and deepened through varied tasks in the fields of mathematics, materials science, civil engineering and mechanical engineering, among others. Seen as complementary to oral communication skills, text production in this course will focus on writing e-mails, taking notes, writing summaries of lectures, and preparing notes for presentations, among other things.
