The seminar provides an in-depth overview of the politics of global development and ideas for reform of development cooperation. We start the seminar by discussing various theories of development (modernization theory, Dependencia, neoclassical approaches, governance as well as theories of post-development). In the second part, we will have a look at different approaches how development efforts in countries of Global south could be enhanced. We will discover and discuss new forms of development politics and recent ideas of reforms for international development projects. Finally, our goal is to answer the questions: What does a country need to develop? How can development cooperation effectively contribute to this goal?
