The urban design studio "Translation of Planning Ideas: Learning from Barcelona’s Superblocks" emphasizes international perspective in dissemination and translation of planning ideas, along with the importance of local characteristics for their successful implementation. The planned workshop in Barcelona will first explore the planning idea of the superblocks, and highlight the elements of sustainability and interdisciplinarity, as well as the importance of compromise and inclusion when dealing with different actors and stakeholders in the city. The critical knowledge gained in the workshop will be the starting point for the urban planning task of translating this planning idea into the specific context of Darmstadt's inner city.
