We will explore ideas for climate adaptation in the heterogeneous, colorful and very lively district of Wiesbaden Biebrich. Traffic-heavy streets, many parked cars on the roadsides and a number of underused public spaces characterize its dense town centre. Furthermore, vacant or underused building structures are waiting for new ideas for their use. Overall, the potential of Biebrich’s town center as a livable urban space has so far not been fully exploited. However, there is a lot of civic engagement for the district. In cooperation with the "Initiativgruppe Ideen für Biebrich", which in partnership with the city of Wiesbaden has raised funds from the state funding program 'Lebendige Innenstadt', we want to generate impulses for a future-oriented development with a focus on climate adaptation measures. In addition, an interdisciplinary cooperation with Master's students of Landscape Architecture from the Hochschule Geisenheim University is being planned.

This design project deals with climate adaptation (measures against heat stress, rainwater management), approaches to sustainable mobility and ideas for the conversion of buildings. It further is about social processes and the involvement of civic initiatives.
