Course Contents
The interdisciplinary, optional course Fundamentals of Facade Technology provides an overview of the building envelope in regards to facade design,  materials used in construction and building physics.

Additive manufacturing offers entirely new possibilities for the construction sector. According to the principle "complexity comes for free" the aim is to exploit both design and technological-functional possibilities that would not have been feasible with conventional methods.

In the course of the SS23 the focus will be on additive manufacturing in order to improve the functions shading and light-transmission of the building envelope. In groups the students will design, develop, and additively manufacture ceramic facade elements using common software. In doing so, the special characteristics of ceramic 3D printing have to be taken into account and teh design is to be adapted iteratively, considering geometric, technical, statice, and building physics aspects.

Additional Information
The course will take place in presence in diffrent locations bacause aside from teh regular lecture rooms we will be using software in the computer lab of FB 13 as well as partly work in the robotic lab. The exact room assignment will be announced shortly before the lecture.

For admission to the exam it is necessary to complete and pass the exercises during the semester.

The exam itself consists of a 15-minute presentation of the physical model and provision of a hand-out as well as a subsequent question and answer session.
