Course Contents
The lecture course "Aerodynamik I" deals with incompressible aerodynamics.
The course begins with an introduction to the most important dimensionless
numbers in aerodynamics as well as a recap of the fundamentals of fluid
mechanics. Furthermore, potential flow is introduced and described in detail.
Airfoil theory begins with airfoil nomenclature, the most important aerodynamic
coefficients and general characteristics of incompressible flows over airfoils.
The panel method is discussed as a method for computing flows over airfoils.
After a short introduction to boundary layer theory the behaviour of flows
over finite wings is covered. This chapter deals with lifting line theory
and extensions of the theory.
The next chapter describes the flow over a fuselage and wing/fuselage interactions.
Wind tunnels and measurements techniques in wind tunnels are discussed,
followed by a brief introduction into building aerodynamics and car aerodynamics.
