Digital Teaching
In an increasingly globalized world, intercultural communication is part of our daily life: in classrooms, supermarkets and concert halls. Therefore, this course invites students of Linguistics and German as a foreign language in particular, but also students in teacher training programs of all subjects to engage with dimensions of intercultural communication with regards to diversity and social justice in the spaces of everyday communication, advertising and food cultures. Questions regarding form and function of language cultures (e.g. everyday language vs. technical language) and text types will be addressed. Participants will understand the dimensions of culture, the levels of communication and the complexity of intercultural encounters.
In synchronous and asynchronous online and on-site learning activities, participants will engage with theoretical and practical examples, collaborate in teams and reflect on their own patterns of socialization.
The language of instruction will be German. English is also welcome.

IMPORTANT: The course is offered in a hybrid format. This means that some sessions will take place in presence, others will be offered online. The semester schedule, which is made available at the beginning of the semester, will provide more information.
