Official Course Description
Continuum mechanics describes the displacement and deformation of bodies under load. In the field of continuum mechanics such bodies are modeled as a continuum, neglecting the microstructure of the material.

Continuum mechanics provides the basis for the solution of a large variety of mechanical problems. Applications can be found in  many different areas such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and material science.
