Course Contents
Prestressing enables the realisation of wide-span bridges, extremely slender tendon structures, large shell structures or watertight containers made of concrete. Due to their economic efficiency and design possibilities, prestressed concrete structures are widely used in civil engineering and are increasingly being used in structural and industrial engineering. The course Prestressed Concrete Structures deals with the design and dimensioning of structures made of prestressed concrete according to DIN EN 1992-1-1. The special features of prestressed components to be considered in the dimensioning are derived and explained. The lecture contents are deepened in the context of exercises.

Main contents are:
- prestressing technology
- time-dependent behaviour of materials
- internal forces due to prestressing
- design concept and durability
- losses of prestressing force
- safety concept
- analysis for servicability simit states
- analysis for  ultimate limit states
- pre-dimensioning and constructional design of prestressed concrete members- strengthening of
concrete structures
