[b]Material Market[/b]
The lecture series introduces the principles, methods, and techniques of various construction methods and building elements in 'lightweight construction'. The structural principles of rod-shaped systems and planar constructions in wood and steel construction as well as their expression and space-creating possibilities are considered. Construction is to be understood as the elaboration of a holistic structure of meaning and the interaction of design, construction, detail and material is to be conveyed.
In the accompanying constructive exercise, the basics of the load-bearing structure, the envelope and the material taught in the lecture are applied in a design for a material market in Darmstadt in order to gain an understanding of constructive joints in detail.
