Official Course Description
For the project AKA_experimental room for collaborative learning in the machine hall on the Stadtmitte campus, which is to be implemented with student participation, individual (construction) parts are planned, realised and checked as part of seminars. Following the successful production of the chairs (AKA_Stuhl) and the counter and kitchen (AKA_Küche) in recent semesters, the next stage of realisation is now to take place:

This semester will focus on the consideration of space-creating components and how they fit with and complement the existing building. In order to do this as an example, we will explicitly consider and model the axes L-K. These components include, in particular, the walkway to be erected in steel construction, textile room dividers and a wall-accompanying piece of furniture.
After a modelling and material workshop at the beginning and insights into the various crafts, the previous concepts and plans will be further refined and realised as a 1:1 mock-up together in the two block construction weeks at the end of the semester (24.02.25-07.03.25).

The course will be organised in collaboration with the textile artist Karen Modrei (Munich). She will support us with conceptual contributions as well as with her knowledge in the field of textile production, manufacturing and assembly processes.

The material costs for models, mockups and prototypes will be covered.
The production phase will be credited as a double credit of 2CP, which means that a total of 5CP can be credited for the seminar.
