Course Contents
This course develops essential academic speaking competencies for university students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Students will analyze and practice discipline-specific academic discourse through mini-presentations and an in-depth final presentation, with particular focus on the conventions and genres specific to their areas of study. Through regular oral participation and targeted assignments, students will strengthen their ability to communicate complex technical concepts, engage in academic discussions, and present research findings effectively in English, while investigating the unique language patterns and conventions within their own scientific disciplines. In addition to the final presentation, the course assessment includes active classroom participation, in-class presentations on various themes, as well focused written assignments that reinforce understanding of field-specific academic discourse patterns and presentation strategies.
