Digital Teaching
This seminar is designed to bring together doctoral students of the RTG “Standards of Governance” and advanced MA students. Standards of good governance such as accountability, transparency, participation etc. are ubiquitous in politics and public administration. They have been challenged by various groups of critics. Scholars and activists from the Global South denounce them as tools to project Western norms onto other parts of the world. Populists of the right reject such standards as impositions of a liberal elite. In this seminar, we will discuss such forms of contestation, partly (but not exclusively) based on ongoing research in the RTG. The final programme of the seminar will be agreed upon at the preparatory session on 11 December. The language of instruction and debate in class will be English.
