Course Contents
An understanding of spin models is of great relevance in many fields of modern physics as such models provide effective theories for the dynamics underlying phase transitions in more complicated physical systems, ranging from magnetic materials to the theory of the strong interaction. Building on the discussion of path integrals and phase transitions in the course “Theoretical Physics V”, we discuss modern theoretical methods for quantitative studies of phase transitions in spin models, also carefully mentioning some open questions in this field of research.

Literature
Will be given at the preparatory meeting on April 29, 2026.

Further Information
The seminar will be held in the format of a scientific workshop. The presentation topics will be assigned during the prepatory meeting on April 29, 2026. All presentations will then be given on a workshop day (provisionally scheduled for June 26, 2026, from 9:50 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). The time frame will of course include short breaks and a lunch break.
