Dear students,
I am pleased to invite you to the upcoming master-level lecture, "Analytical & Bioanalytical Chemistry – Enabler & Driving Force Behind the Transformations of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry (M.AW2)".
While focusing on current methods & applications, this course will examine the pivotal role of analytical chemistry in addressing the major transformations in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, including energy, raw materials, circularity, and digitalization, all within the context of evolving regulatory and political frameworks such as the EU Commission’s Clean Industrial Deal and the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, and the implications towards a Circular Economy.
The lecture is based on practical examples from industry and enriched by contributions from senior industry experts (as guest lecturers).
Further highlights include two full-day excursions to leading enterprises of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries (i.e., Merck KGaA, Darmstadt and BASF SE, Ludwigshafen).
In addition, we will have a two-day Research Data Management workshop for M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates. Two experts from the NFDI4Chem initiative will, jointly with local IT support, address key topics of good RDM, accompanied by various interactive exercises, always with the re-use of your data in scientific publications, statistical analysis or AI applications in mind.
Please note, successful participation in the RDM course will be recognized with a certificate.
I encourage you to approach this course with curiosity and engagement. Sessions will be conducted in English (some course material might be in German).
I look forward to an inspiring and productive semester with you.
