Official Course Description
This interdisciplinary seminar deals with various concepts and uses of the term Anthropocene, its offshoots (“Technocene”) and their history. These are presented and discussed in the context of the humanities and geosciences.

All conceptualizations of the term focus on the traces of humans in various components of the Earth system; Therefore, the fundamentals of geoscientific work and research are also taught and illustrated using practical examples from soil science and interdisciplinary research projects.

The conceptual and practical levels are related to each other, and basic questions, methods of analysis and reflection in geoscience and history are discussed and explained.
