Course Contents
This course provides an introduction to modern nuclear theory, including many concepts and methods that are applicable across physics fields. The discussion and homework problems are designed to improve the understanding and to explore the topics covered in the lecture.
Course outline:
1. Guiding principles
2. Nuclei and strong interactions
3. Nuclear forces: scattering and bound states
4. Effective theories for low energies
5. Many-body basics for fermions
6. Many-body methods for nuclei and nuclear matter
7. Chiral interactions and applications to nuclei
Literature
Detailed lecture notes will be provided for each chapter of the course, including literature recommendations for further reading.
Preconditions
Theoretical Physics II (Quantum Mechanics), IV (Statistical Mechanics), and Physics VI (Nuclear Physics).
