This lecture is for students of the master program, which imparts the fact that
processes are ubiquitous in mechanical engineering. Processes are a key success
factor, especially in product development. Within the scope of the lecture, characteristic
processes are identified based on process theory, and a reference model for product
development and specific methods are presented to meet the process objectives. Students
should be able to understand the processes in product development. They should be familiar
with the main work methods, and they should develop skills to recognize the progress
in processes and to control process flow. Process modeling -analysis -simulation and -optimization
are important competencies that have to be mastered.
