Voraussetzungen
For registration please send an E-Mail to Jacqueline Stamm, M.Sc. (stamm@idd.tu-darmstadt.de) till April 09th 2020. Pre-registrations via TUCaN will not be accepted.

Prerequisites for participation are:

• Registration in the Master courses MPE or Mechatronics or the Bachelor course MPE with a submitted bachelor thesis (a written confirmation is required)
• Successful examination in „Applied Product Development“ (previously known as PE 1, 2)

When designing your curriculum, please consider that the number of applicants in the past semesters was greater than the maximum number of participants which is 20. Therefore, the following criteria are used for the further selection:

• whether an ADP, a research seminar or a bachelor thesis have already been done at IDD or
• whether an examination on lectures offered in the Bachelor course has already been taken at IDD

If there are still too many interested students left, the decision will be based on the order of E-Mail registrations. The final list of participants will be published during the first meeting (15th April 2019 13:30-16:05 S1|10-211). It is compulsory for all applicants to attend to this meeting. If you are not able to join the meeting, please inform Jacqueline Stamm about it. Subsequent to that meeting, all permitted students will be informed via E-Mail about the further TUCaN registration process. The examination of the prerequisites and the division in groups will be carried out on the given date in the first semester week.

Furthermore, there is compulsory attendance for all applicants on 08th July and 15th July 2020 for the presentation of the results of the seminar task and the invention disclosure form. In addition, a test (duration of 1 hour) will be written on this date. The final grade is composed as follows: 30% seminar task (group grade), 30% invention disclosure form (group grade), 10% presentation and 30% written test (single grade).

The course is held as a seminar. In the first third, lectures by Prof. Dörsam, an introductory course “Patent Research” and a guest lecture by a patent lawyer are offered. The attendance is compulsory for these events. The dates will be announced in the first seminar session. In the second third of the semester, a seminar task is processed by four groups of five students. The task consists of current problems, for which a solution matrix should be created and patents should be assigned to them. In consultation with Prof. Dörsam, a qualified invention notification should be written for a “white box”. Parallel to the work on the seminar task, Prof. Dörsam will provide question hours.
