Lehrinhalte
With the growing requirements for the comfort of users, the building energy optimisation, the automation of the regulation, the extent of the required knowledge of building physics planners increases. The course focuses on instationary and complex interactions between building materials, components and buildings. Basic physical processes for thermal and hygrothermal behaviour have to be processed as well as the transfer of noise and development of fire. The background and the required application of the relevant standards and regulations are thereby considered as well as the component-specific simulations. Requirements and compliance demonstrations are employed for residential and as well for non-residential buildings.

Further Grading Information
After completing of the module, students can:
- recognize problems of building physics
- understand basic phenomena of heat, moisture, noise and fire problems
- perform basic calculations and/or simulations for heat, moisture, noise and fire problems
- understand the requirements of energy efficient buildings and possible constructive and technical measures
- apply simplified assessments for most recent versions of energy saving regulations (DIN 4108 and DIN EN 18599)
- assess the effectiveness of measures for fire protection in buildings
- determine material parameter in a laboratory environment
In addition to the ability of estimating different solutions and to explain these properly and objectively, students are able to make decisions and to justify them. They are capable of working independently on subject-specific problems based on heat, humidity, noise and fire.
